Most websites have a like button. A heart, a thumbs up, a clap. They are quick gestures, almost automatic. Done without thinking and forgotten instantly. I wanted something different for this blog.

Resonances are not likes. They are a way of saying that something you read connected with you. That a sentence made you stop. That an idea kept spinning in your head. That the text resonated.

Why they are called that

In physics, resonance occurs when a system vibrates with greater amplitude upon receiving a frequency that matches its own. It is not noise. It is alignment. Two things vibrating at the same frequency amplify each other.

That is what I seek with every article. Not for everyone to like it. But for it to connect deeply with someone living something similar. A designer who also feels that AI changed their work. Someone who also wonders if what they do still matters. A person who found in these words something they already felt but had not put into words.

How they work

At the end of every article there is a four-pointed symbol: ✦. If the post resonated with you, tap it. The counter goes up. You do not need an account, you do not need to register, you do not need to give your email. It is an anonymous and silent gesture.

There is no limit on resonances per post. If something moves you, it resonates. That simple.

Why they are not likes

A like is social. It is done so others can see it. So the algorithm counts it. To participate in a system of external validation.

A resonance is personal. Nobody knows you gave it. It does not appear on your profile. It does not feed any algorithm. It is between you and the text. Nothing more.

I chose the symbol ✦ because it is not a heart or a thumb or a star. It does not carry the emotional weight of any of those icons. It is a geometric shape that glows. Like a small signal in the dark that says: this landed.

What resonances tell me

As an author, resonances tell me something that views and clicks cannot. They tell me that someone did not just pass through the article but stopped. That something I wrote was worth it. They do not tell me how many people read. They tell me how many people felt.

And that, for someone who writes from experience, matters more than any traffic metric.
