I am a designer, not a programmer. I know enough code to be dangerous and not enough to build something from scratch without help. That was my excuse for years for not having my own blog. Too complicated. Too much time. WordPress felt generic and coding something custom was beyond my reach.
Then I started experimenting with AI for development. And everything changed.
The architecture: conversation, not code
The backend of shinobis.com is PHP with MySQL. I did not choose that stack out of technical preference but because my hosting supports it and because Claude can write functional and secure PHP without needing heavy frameworks. I designed the entire architecture by conversing with AI. I explained what I needed, we discussed options, and it generated code that I reviewed and implemented.
The multilingual post system, the automatic social image generation with QR codes, the admin panel, the per-language SEO meta tags. Everything was built through this process of iterative conversation. I did not blindly copy and paste code. I understood every decision because I discussed it before implementing.
The design: my territory with superpowers
The CSS was entirely mine in concept. The color palette, the editorial typography with Inter and JetBrains Mono, the minimalist aesthetic with gold accents. These are design decisions no AI made for me. What AI did was execute them quickly. I described the visual effect I wanted and it returned the CSS that made it real.
Each post's social images are automatically generated with a visual resonance system that creates unique patterns based on the article's content. Every post has its own visual fingerprint. That is real generative design: rules defined by a human, executed by a machine.
The content: amplification, not substitution
I write every article myself. The ideas are mine, the experiences are mine, the opinions are mine. What AI does is help me structure, expand, and translate. I write in Spanish, my native language, and AI helps me produce English and Japanese versions that maintain the original's tone and intention.
Without AI, this blog would be a Spanish-only blog. With AI, it is a trilingual publication that reaches audiences I would otherwise not reach.
The lesson
The lesson is not that AI can build a blog. Anyone can generate a website with AI today. The lesson is that AI removes the technical barriers that prevented creatives from executing their ideas. I had the vision for shinobis.com in my head for years. What I did not have was the technical ability to build it alone. AI closed that gap.
It is not a blog made by AI. It is a blog made by a designer who used AI as a tool. The difference matters.
